The prestigious University of Edinburgh was founded 1583 and is one of the most respected seats of learning in the whole of the United Kingdom. The city also offers Heriot-Watt University with a strong reputation for engineering, Napier University which offers several specialised research centres and Queen Margaret University which specialises in healthcare, theatre, media, hospitality and business. In addition, The Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians train the medical community and the Edinburgh College of Art trains in the Visual Arts from its Laurieston campus.
